Announcements and Action Activities:

  • Worried about water usage for the proposed CO2 pipeline?  Follow this link to see an outstanding presentation by Jessica Wiskus on the danger of the CO2 pipeline for Iowa’s aquifers.

  • Beyond Plastics is a global movement to end plastic pollution, especially single use plastic and 100Grannies is an affiliate. For much more info link here and for a recent article in The Guardian on the plastic crisis link here.

Upcoming Events:

  • Saturday, January 18th – 9:30 am. People’s Singing Circle and March in Coralville.  This event begins at the Coralville Public Library. We will march with our banner, no signs.
  • Thursday January 23rd. Farmer’s Union lobby day at the Iowa State Capital
  • Saturday, January 25th – 9:30 am. League of Woman Voters’ Legislative Forum on Education at the Senior Center in the Assembly Room The public is invited to join League members to hear from our local legislators who represent us and to ask questions of them while they are in the active legislative session.
  • Tuesday, February 4th – 10:00 to 4:00. IARA – CAFO lobby day at the Iowa State Capitol.
  • Monday, February 10th – 10:00 to 4:00. Clean Water lobby day at the Iowa State Capitol.
  • Saturday, February 22nd – 9:30 am. 100Grannies are engaged in numerous important activities to educate, advocate, and agitate for renewable energy, pure water, clean air and a healthy environment for future generations. Some of these are:

           

  • Partnering with the Iowa Carbon Pipeline Resistance Coalition and landowners to fight against eminent domain by private industry for a dangerous CO2 carbon pipeline across Iowa.  Link here to learn more. Link to this YouTube for more about the landowners’ perspective.
