Upcoming Events:

  • April 17th – 6:30 – 8:00 at Iowa City Public Library – Grannies are co-sponsoring with League of Women Voters, Connie Mutel’s book talk
  • April 20th – 9:00 – 12:00 – Ace Hardware North Dodge Street.  Home Energy workshops
  • April 23rd –  4:30 to 7:30 – our annual spring party at the Unitarian Universalist Society – more information to follow.
  • April 25th – 4:30-6:00  – Field to Family at their warehouse: 1051 US-6 Iowa City, IA. (make t-shirt bags?)
  • May 2nd  – ICPL – Grannies are co-sponsoring with Sierra Club a candidate forum for the 5 Democratic candidates for Johnson County Supervisor (the primary is in June)
  • July 20th – July 24th, Johnson County Fair

100Grannies are engaged in numerous important activities to educate, advocate, and agitate for renewable energy, pure water, clean air and a healthy environment for future generations. Some of these are:

           

  • Partnering with the Iowa Carbon Pipeline Resistance Coalition and landowners to fight against eminent domain by private industry for a dangerous CO2 carbon pipeline across Iowa.  Link here to learn more. Link to this YouTube for more about the landowners’ perspective.

          

  • Advocating against CAFOs (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations) by meeting with legislators to support a moratorium in Iowa and other activities. Click here to learn more about Iowa Alliance for Responsible Agriculture and why there should be a moratorium on CAFO expansion.

100Grannies meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month (except Nov. and Dec.) from 3:00 to 5:00 in the downstairs of the Coralville Public Library.
